In support of family farms and sustainable agriculture, check out this animated video The Meatrix II.
Okay, we all know that U.S. factory farms are producing an over-whelming amount of animal waste, an estimated 500 million tons of manure every year, three times the amount produced by the human population of the U.S. Unlike human waste, however, livestock waste is not treated; it is dumped into pits and onto the land. Here is a fun little video representation.
At the end of the video it says, “Click here to stop Tyson Dirty Water Bailout Bill.” It takes you to an easy web form, which you can complete to urge your senators and representatives to oppose S.807.
What is S. 807? Oh, it is a lovely bill to amend the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 and allow manure not to be considered to be a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant.
Eating a vegan diet or cutting back on your consumption of animal products will help to reduce animal waste pollution.
