Elle - sorry your pie had a horrible after taste. This recipe definitely requires silken tofu. I use Mori-Nu Organic Silken Tofu (Firm). Tofu should NOT have an odor of fish, in fact it really should not have any odor or taste. I wonder if you got a bad batch.

I just made this with Silken NASOYA Tofu and it has a horrible aftertaste. I should have had a clue when I opened the package and it smelled fishy. I am not sure if the brand of tofu makes a difference? I've never tried tofu before, and now I don't ever want to try it again! I hope other brands taste better.

Our local store only sells Nasoya Tofu. I have three choices, Silken, Firm or Extra Firm. I was going to use the Silken (though it does not say 'firm' on it as well). Will that work?

I am not vegan, though I am sensitive to dairy, that looks pretty darn good! Might have to give it a try one of these days :).

Ooo, that topping sounds great - I will try that next time. "Next time" will be far from now because this pie has way too many calories!

This looks yummers! I made a similar recipe from VegNews last month. Almost the exact same recipe/procedure, but I only used 2/3 cup of PB in the filling, and used the final third of it plus some chocolate chips and earth balance mixed together to make a rich ganache that you pour on top, and when frozen it gives you a crispy top layer! i def recommend it for next time! :)
